In October 2020, Parra Leagues donated $20,000 towards a two-bedroom apartment at Ronald McDonald House. This is a haven for families with a seriously ill or injured child staying with them. Recently the McConnon Family’s stayed in this apartment and shared their experience with us:
For the past 251 nights, 13 year old Finn McConnon and his family, have called Ronald McDonald House Westmead a home-away-from-home.
Staying in a two-bedroom self-contained apartment funded by Parra Leagues, Finn’s Mum Rachelle says, “the support was brilliant from day one”.
Finn – the eldest of 3 boys from the Central Coast NSW, was diagnosed with Leukaemia last July.
“We’re just one of many grateful families living here. We’ll never ever be able to repay our gratitude to the House and supporters like Parra Leagues. What they have done for us is amazing,” said Rachelle.
“I can’t speak highly enough of my son. There have been some emotional moments, of course. But he’s just been so positive, determined and strong”.
After months of intensive treatment, Finn returned home today with his parents, for the first time since his diagnosis. He will return at the end of April for further treatment.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney thanks Parra Leagues for helping to support families like the McConnons and #KeepingFamiliesClose
In Rachelle’s words, “It doesn’t matter if you’re at your home or not. Home is where your family is.”
